Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}15/MH.{M. Huckerby} 1124? Experimental Dept. 15th, December 1937. Messrs. Richard Klinger Ltd., Klingerit Works, Sidcup, KENT. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 14th. inst. giving quotations for cylinder head gaskets at a figure that makes it worth while to continue our tests on these Klingerit joints. Your quotations state for "Klingerit 1000" joints whereas I understood that the latest lot of joints we are testing are called "Klingerit" joints. We should like your confirmation in respect of this. Regarding the cylinder head joint EW.1014 of which you have recently made up 6 for our trial, we presume that the price for this would be the same as for EB.2619. We note that for 5,000 joints (EB.2619) the quotation is 1/6d. each and for 1,000, 1/8d. each, and would be interested to know what the figure would be for quantities of 200 and 500. Tests carried out up to the present time show that the joint has good sealing power and is being tested over a long mileage. Another issue to the job is whether it be necessary to fit a new joint each time the cylinder head is removed from the block, if so this would be a serious set-back to the job and would not represent any economy compared with the present standard joints with which it is possible to use time and time again. | ||
