MARTINDALE 646 DY{F R Danby}/KG. C. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}16/S.21.4.38. WRAITH III - FRONT SUSPENSION. The main lever housing having broken on the bumping rig when produced as a steel casting, it has been decided to return to a steel forging as originally intended. Though the castings which have broken appear obviously defective, it seems wise to reinforce the forging at the point of fracture, and F.CD.629 (print herewith) shews the modification to the existing detail drawing to produce this result. GW.1746/7, though calling for castings are actually designed for forgings, so remaining particulars can be as on those drawings. Modified details urgently required.
