With regard to your query re the position of camshafts and tappets on the 'DL' series non hydraulic. The Depot at N. have had one case 3.DL.36 after 12,546 miles which had scored tappets and the camshaft had to be dressed up. There are others which are doubtful but have not as yet come in for a top decarb. They have been dealt with by attention to the rockers. When examining the above tappets and camshaft, the impression was that the non hydraulic type had not overcome the scoring trouble which was disappointing, seeing that the slow running of the 'DL' series of engines has been criticised as not being as good as the hydraulic type. The condition of tappets and camshafts are generally found during the top decarb. therefore do not come under the Complaint of Customers. GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} | ||
