WRAITH CRANKSHAFTS.

Referring to the two experimental shafts for which you obtained a price from the English Steel Corporation at our request, the object of obtaining the shafts in question is to run tests to justify reverting to a steel of this type as against the V.C.M.

There is no prospect of our being able to use this material on early Wraith chassis.

In regard to the question of the 1% nickel I raised this question with the English Steel, as in my view the 1% nickel was a disadvantage for our purpose, and if the shaft could be run safely without the 1% nickel there would be a distinct gain in bearing life.
