Exol. Report. X. No.3309. EFC5/T4.2.26. ORIGINAL To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from EFC. c. CJ. BJ. c. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} Rg.{Mr Rowledge} STAINLESS STEEL SPARKING POINTS AND OMISSION OF STEEL SPRING WASHERS. A 10,000 mile test on the bench of a distributor fitted with stainless steel sparking points and rotor blade has been carried out, and the result is distinctly in favour of the use of stainless steel and the omission of the steel washers. It is not, however, thought worth while to send a sample to R.{Sir Henry Royce} We are running these again on the 10,000 mile test 20 HP. chassis in France, and the items can stand or fall finally by that test. We have also further experimental evidence of the desirability of ventilation, but this of course is now standardised. EFC. | ||
