EXPERIMENTS WITH BATTERY IGNITION. X-3199

Mr. Royce wishes the following experiments to be made with the battery ignition:-
Find the spark length at the end of each individual sparking plug conductor.
Find what is the factor for length of spark within the cylinders at full compression 70 lbs above atmosphere compared with atmosphere.
Demonstrate the effect of the various lengths of -
(1) Conductor.
(2) Tube carrier.
(3) Wire.
Try moving the coil up to the distributor.
Try fibre tube in place of iron tube for carrying the wires.
The wires should be grouped together at once, as mutual induction does not seem to have any ill effect. This was arranged months ago (May last - Lec.1098) for neatness, but Works have not been able to get the complete group arrangement produced. Trembler coil ignition would not allow of this.

TORQUE REACTION VIBRATION (PICKING UP VIBRATIONS)

Vigorous impulses must be caused by better filling up of the cylinders, practically equivalent to making a slightly larger engine, because production cars are constructed with no greater ratio of compression.
