Dear Sirs,

We would refer to your letter of the 22nd instant, which has been passed from Mr. Longley to the writer, and regret to note your report of apparent exudation from brake linings. The writer would wish to investigate this at first hand next week, and we shall be greatly obliged therefore if you can keep on one side samples of the linings which are the subject of this complaint.

With regard to the performance of the VM.30 linings in the servo motor, this certainly suggests that a lining is required having a µ speed characteristic similar to that required to prevent brake squeal.

The rig for the Bentley half axle casing is partially completed, and if it is agreeable to your goodselves, we should appreciate another opportunity to check up one or two details from your apparatus.

Would it be convenient to call on you on the afternoon of Monday next, the 28th instant ?
