DI/NS{Norman Scott} c. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 2000 DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}23/G.3.12.37. WRAITH File BENTLEY 111 - HIGH FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING WITH OFFSET NOSE. 422. Please receive herewith E.CD.275 Triangular High Front Engine Mounting (offset nose) Bentley 111. This design is similar to Wraith 111 E.CD.273 with the support member modified to suit the Bentley 111 chassis frame. The nose details and the fixing to the cylinder block are exactly as called for on the Wraith 111 engine. For the first experimental Bentley 111 cars using the Wraith 111 cylinder blocks with the original engine support facing, the same method of adaption for the engine mounting should be used as for the six Wraith 111 cars now being made, the same nose bearing and packings should be used, as the offset of the nose is the same for both cars. The modified cylinder block and nose bearing shown on this design will, of course, be fitted when available. A design for the torque reaction damper for use in conjunction with this mounting, on similar lines to the Wraith 111 damper is in hand, and will be issued shortly. Will you please issue the necessary details and instructions experimentally for this design, and also for its adaption to existing engines, as soon as possible. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
