CHASSIS 117-WJ.

With reference to the attached note.

It is unfortunate that no atmospheric temperatures are given in this report because it prevents us deciding whether there is definitely something wrong with the car, or whether we should expect trouble under the conditions encountered.

We understand from the records, however, that 117-WJ. had a louvred bonnet and since Hopkinson definitely states that the weather was cool, we are inclined to say that the car was not normal.

The only possible alteration that can be made to the car in Italy other than ensuring that the circulation etc., is O.K., is to change the radiator.

Since, presumably, there is still chance of radiators being blocked up it might be worth while to send a radiator to Nicholls Brothers as a standby, in which case they could try it on a car.

One trouble which we have noticed is that the gaskett does not always fit very well between the cylinder head and the cylinder block, and this may partially block up the water passages at this point. However, we have nowhere yet encountered a case where this can be said to have caused a car to over-heat, and we should not expect the car to get off
