re. 179-XJ. Mertzanoff.

With reference to your memo. C10/C3.6.30.
We consider the only way in which we are likely to satisfy this owner is to make his car like Sir Henry Seagrave's car, 80-WJ, i.e. special springs and extra friction shock absorbers, except in this case that we shall fit stronger springs of the present standard type instead of the stiffer springs as fitted to Sir Henry Seagrave's car.

Speed The position is that this car will be used as a special car and standard performance from a springing point of view will not be satisfactory.

In view of this, therefore, will D.L. please have the estimate asked for in C10/C3.6.30. forwarded as soon as possible.

We shall then await instructions from you regarding the putting in hand of the springs and ordering of the shock absorbers. It will probably take a fortnight or so to obtain the special French Afa shock absorbers, which we understand will have to be fitted. We understand there is no suitable design for incorporating the Hartford Shock absorbers which we would prefer for this job.
