4. Amateur Car. If 6-Goshawk-11 is considered fit for running, we are quite in agreement for it to be kept running by Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} in France, and such alterations and improve-ments which might be suggested at Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence should be arranged so that as far as possible, these improvements can be fixed on to the car while in France by us supplying the parts, if necessary, from the Works.
Bringing existing Goshawks in the Works up-to-date, is rather a tremendous job and as previously explained, will mean, new frames, gear boxes, axles etc., and there is little hope of this being done during the present "lock-out".
We have now received instructions from BJ. that 7-Goshawk-11 should now remain at the Works for experimental purposes and a car not to be supplied for the Amateur Test until we are satisfied that the car is considered by us as satisfactory hence, we are anxious to hear from you as to your delibera-tions after the arrival of Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} and 6-Goshawk-11 so that we can, if possible, complete 7-Goshawk-11 and if satisfactory and considered by R.{Sir Henry Royce} as the "last word", to then send to Sales Dept. to carry out their Amateur test.
You will notice that we have registered 6-Goshawk-11 as "Cinderella" so as to comply with the established name and are doing the same with 7-Goshawk-11.

5. Could you let me know what you and Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} consider the most satisfactory tyre pressure for Goshawk-11 cars as we certainly find that the variation in pressure makes a considerable difference in the riding of the car and we are anxious that this point should be established so that customers can take full advantage of the information and we can, as far as possible, avoid the customer being impressed with the importance of working at high tyre pressures as recommended by the tyre makers. Normally, for the open-car, we are rather saying that 40 lbs. front and 50 lbs. rear should be recommended.

6. Disc wheels. 6-Goshawk-11 is fitted with disc wheels. I should have liked to have arranged to fix the R.W. wire wheels on this car so that we could have got R's opinion about them, but we had already allotted the R.W.wire wheels for 7-Goshawk-11, and they only arrived at the 11th.hour.
After trying cars fitted with wire wheels, I certainly feel that disc wheels on a car are a disadvantage and accentuate a number of noises such as - noise from tyres, axle, riding over sets or different types of road surface. We would like to have your comments on these points when comparing the cars. Possibly we shall be able to get R's opinion on the R.W. wheels as possibly he will be back in time to see 7-Goshawk-11 complete prior to it being actually used for the Amateur Trial
