To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to CLK. c. to Hl. c. to Kstrtn. c. to BJ. X.3177. St.{Capt. P. R. Strong} Margaret's Sept. 4th 1917 X.3123 X.3177 X.3136 R8/W3917. RE -PISTON ALLOY X.2749. Regarding the piston alloy having 7% of copper. The works complaining that this alloy is more porous than our old 12% cannot, one would think, be entirely right, and must be caused through some other reason. I am quite agreeable to Mr. Kesterton making a test without the zinc, or without the tin, or without both. I should have thought that the zinc at least would have been an advantage, bringing the metal more in the line with the crankchamber metal which is so good.
