Phantom III Cross Steering Tube Joints.

In order to prevent the lower ball pad G.83415 in the above joints rotating, they are at present being made a light press fit. As we are now having to increase the friction load on these joints to overcome low speed wobble, we consider that there should be a more reliable means of holding these pads. Our reason for this is that we have recently found the pads loose on 36-EX and 35-EX, although in both cases there is some doubt whether they were tight in the first instance. Once the pads begin to turn they wear the housing slightly, so that it is then impossible to obtain a tight fit.

We suggest that the pads should be sweated into the housing. We have done this on 36-EX and propose to do it on 35-EX.
