1021 1st March, 1941. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/EAG.3/RH.{R. Hollingworth} Your ref: WEC/EO. Messrs. Weathershields Ltd., 147-163, Bishop Street, BIRMINGHAM. 5. For the Attention of Mr. W.E. Clements. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 27th. and note that you consider the design of the roof to be quite satisfactory. We are asking our Purchasing Department to send you our official order to make one sliding roof to our blue print number RB.{R. Bowen}15001. It is understood that you are arranging to have this rust proofed. Our drawing shows a cover panel but we take it that you understand that we only want you to supply us with the usual type of sliding roof i.e. Channels and fittings. We wish to have the whole of these fittings rust proofed, but the rust proofing must be of a type that will permit the roof being satisfactorily spot welded into position. You will appreciate that it is necessary for all welds to be 100% good. We thank you for the samples of stainless iron, and if you could obtain supplies of this at a price that is not greatly in excess of the ordinary mild steel, we should prefer the roof made in this material and to have the rolling bar and any other parts that could not be made in stainless iron, rust proofed. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS ROYCE LIMITED, | ||
