X4694 Rim To:-EJNR. from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} E.10/HP.27.6.34. c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} AHS. SpectreCodename for Phantom III Engine. We shall require some steel push rods for the SpectreCodename for Phantom III engine in place of the Duralumin on the valve gear. I should like to instruct forthwith an oil based casting in magnesium, and also look into the question of replacing the cast iron tappet blocks with some made in Duralumin bushed with steel where required. Would you also please find out if we have instructed the strap type of connecting rod for the SpectreCodename for Phantom III. So far as I remember we did the complete design for this.
