PROGRAMME OF TEST BED WORK. Further to memo Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}1/R.30.12.36 No.5. Test Bed. PHANTOM III. No.14. Continental Unit. Water flow tests in accordance with Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. On completion of the above a deristricted hot spot to Mod.2. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}295 will be ready for trial. This consists of cutting out the sharp bends and should be tried with standard carburetter to see if any improvement has been effected. A further hot spot Mod.1. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}295 has been modified to suit the fitting of 2, 25/30. carbs, also to be tried out. BENTLEY B.19. Endurance as in previous memo. Record of tappet clearances to be taken. If O.K. after 10 hours full throttle and 10 hours 1/4 load unit to be returned for examination of bearings. B.17 Unit with W/M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} mains as in the last run. New big end bearings in AC.5.S. with RR.56.shims. 10 hours full throttle and 10 hours 1/4 load endurance to be run on Ethyl. No.30 Bed. WRAITH. W.1.Unit New unit is 25/30 other than lubrication layout and increased inertia damper. To be tested is usual procedure for fitting in Wraith Chassis. continued. | ||
