RE ELECTRICAL PARTS FOR 10,000 MILE TEST

The following are electrical parts suggested for the 10,000 mile test, together with remarks upon each of these.

(3) X.3618. R.R. Switchboard.
Details of this are about to be issued. If it is desired to use wires with the additional protection, similar to those being supplied to us by Messrs. Glovers, it would appear that both the distribution board and the switchboard will have to be altered to take the larger wires. We are awaiting Mr. Royce's detision upon this point, which was set out in our memo EFC5/T10.9.19.

(7) X.2656 & X.3644. Starter motor brushes containing more carbon and stronger brush springs.
We have had a visit from Mr. H.T. Sparks of the Morganite Company and we shall be trying experimentally, brushes containing more carbon, at the same time increasing the brush pressure still further above standard. For this purpose, we have already put in hand a dozen springs giving 10 lbs. push in the set up position, as compared with 6 lbs. for present standard, and 4 lbs for original design. (See separate memo describing Mr. Sparks' visit te in connection with this.
