Dear Mr. Robotham,

Many thanks for your letter in further reference to the correspondence which has taken place between your Company, Messrs Sanderson & Holmes,Ltd., and ourselves, in connection with our charge for replacements involved due to the engine failure of the Jaguar supplied to you.

I am naturally anxious that this matter should be dealt with in an equitable and friendly manner, but I cannot help but feel that we are not looking at it from the same point of view.

My view is that you subjected the car to severe tests for your own benefit. The nature of some of these tests has been brought to our knowledge, and I feel that you cannot expect us to meet any expense which may arise as a result of your tests.

I appreciate you have contended that the tests you have carried out may have been no more severe upon the car than the normal driving of the average owner, but, quite frankly, with this I cannot agree.
