Governor Control Dampers. We are now able to give the final damper system settings for E.2 series chassis. The alterations necessary involve no scrap as the replaced parts are correct for Ph.II chassis. (1) Reduced governor range. This is to be 10 lbs/sq.in. pressure at 445 governor spindle r.p.m., (or 70 m.p.h.) and is effected by fitting (a) governor weights F.84562 of .265 dia., (b) increased effective area of governor release valve F.86177/8. (2) The safety main release valve should be set at 25 lbs/sq.in. (3) Damper initial loads for front and rear 40 lbs., with 20 lbs/sq.in. pressure on the control system the loads should be, front 200 lbs., rear 230 lbs. (4) The clearance for the damping disc of the damper valve should be increased to .020" on the dia. (5) Grooves are required in the pistons of the dampers similar to the previous series. (6) The over-riding control spring giving a 15 lbs/sq.in. range is necessary. (7) The diameter of the pump should be increased to .912 dia. This can be done from the existing casting. Ha/ I.A.
