P.T. FROM DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}3/M9.12.31. Copy to - HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 3. EXHAUST SWAN NECK. X5230 You will have discovered no doubt that the exhaust swan neck pipe as drawn on N. scheme 3382. in plan will not do, as in that position it fouls the brake countershafts on the axle. The pipe will have to pass straight over the axle in the plan view, and when it reaches the petrol tank it will have to turn outwards to reach the fishtail in the position it is shewn on N. scheme 3377 - (see N. scheme 3390. The shape of the pipe in elevation as shown on N. sch. 3376. should still be worked to. A subsequent drawing will follow shewing a shield over the pipe as the top of the neck to prevent the cushion touching the hot pipe.
