Rear Shock Dampers and roll rod LOP.FS.{F. Steele} 1025.

The dampers were free from knocks but there were slight leaks from the glands. The roll rod was effective in action, and the poundage appeared well chosen.

The connecting links were free from knocks.

Governor Control for Dampers LOP.FN.747.

The maximum pressure obtainable of 18-20lbs/sq.ins. was insufficient for rough roads. The correct poundage is 23lbs/sq.in. and the discrepancy was due to Std.25/30 governor weights being fitted.

With the slower speed servo drive on this chassis Ph.III. size governor weights are required.

Loss of pressure was also experienced due to dirt and aluminium turnings in the valves.

Petrol Tank LOP.FE.1017.

The tank showed no weaknesses. The internal stand pipe was blocked with solder which proved extremely difficult to extricate, and caused considerable trouble and conflicting evidence on petrol supply failures.

Spring Suspension LOP.GM.1613.

Loss of oil through the breather caps was experienced. These require blanking off and a suitable oil filler to suit. When the car arrived at Chateauroux the buffer clearances were P.S.1" O.S.1" and the consequent list of the car considerable. The car rode too much on the front buffers and was unnecessarily soft in front. Oil leaks from the lower yoke bearings were experienced and reduced by fitting A.B.2 bijur feeds at these points.

Modifications to deal with these troubles have n w been incorporated.
