X7350 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rml/LG21.11.28. 'SS{S. Smith}' REAR AXLE DAMPER. X7060 We have initially adopted the position of the SS.{S. Smith} rear damper in the frame to N.sch.2652 as this makes a much neater job of the installation. It would be of great assistance in dealing with springing complaints if the valves could be made accessible without having to remove the damper from the frame. It appears to us that it might be possible to do this by dropping the boss on the casting slightly and decreasing the length of the valve cap. It would not be necessary to get the spring out when adjusting, as this would be effected by washers under the valve caps as on the front dampers. If it is considered that the valve caps cannot be made accessible with the damper in the frame, we propose to revert to the alternative scheme which you have provided shewing the damper beneath the frame.
