Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}3/T29.4.30. re. 40/50HP. REAR AXLE - RE LUBRICANT. With reference to your ruling with regard to the above and which we quite agree with, we had anticipated this yesterday by getting ordered immediately a further supply of Whitmore's Compound, as there is none on the ground. As we understand it will be three days before a supply is available, I submit that in the meantime, we continue to despatch chassis providing they are going to destinations in this country, and if our further investigations prove that this action is necessary, the oil can be changed before the chassis are delivered to customers. With regard to the last paragraph, it is part of our routine to examine axles at the conclusion of testing to make sure there are no signs of surfaces picking up.
