The bumping test of welded components for the Wraith Bumper Chassis.

1024 To RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}/DWB.{D. W. Brown} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FWK. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FWK.9/JH.22.3.39. WRAITH BUMPER CHASSIS. The following welded components of the above chassis have been bumped for 14½ hrs. 1. Steering column LOP.FW.715. Spot welded support bracket. 2. Side spare wheel carrier LOP.DW.142 Side Tubes. 3. Petrol tank LOP.FW.1408. FW.527 Near side tank strap. 4. Battery Box and fittings. The run has terminated due to the failure of the production welded front pan. We reported on this in Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FWK.5/B.15.2.39. The pan has now been replaced by the riveted type and we shall continue running. No other failure has yet occurred.
