EXPERIMENTAL DYNAMO I.C.2.

The above dynamo was instructed to be built to RR.Sch.911 in By/RD.3/B.23.10.36.

This scheme includes an armature built of stampings to D.75731, special poles to give increased winding space, and an air gap of .020" on the concentric portion, to D.75736, and a field winding of enamelled and paper covered wire, to D.75502.

We understand, however, that for some reason, the field coils have been wound with cotton covered wire.

In order to be perfectly sure of the details of this machine, before we commence our tests, will you please have this machine checked, and where necessary, corrected as follows:-

(1) Check that the armature and poles are correct to the drawings indicated above, and that the air gap is .020" increased to .100" over an angle of 15°.

(2) Check that the field coils are wound with enamelled and paper-covered wire. If not, a new set of coils should be wound, using 19.SWG. E & S.P.C. wire, each coil to have as many turns as can be conveniently got on. Actually more turns will be got on, than the 263 turns specified on D.75502, so that the Winder should count the number put on, and report it.
