To Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from EFC. X 3180 RE PETROL VENTURI FLOW METERS As perhaps you are aware, we have experimented with petrol Venturi flow meters of two sizes, one suitable for the whole engine (4 carburetters), another suitable for 3 cylinders (one carburetter) and we have obtained very promising results with these. Mr. Platford has tried these experimental meters and has, from time to time, agreed that they would be useful as standard fittings for the test houses. We therefore got the Plant Office to instruct six complete sets of these, in the first instance, for the test houses, each set of which comprises a petrol Venturi meter board upon which is fixed one 12 cylinder meter, one 3 cylinder meter, with the necessary pipe connections, valves and bye-pass scheme according to a scheme decided upon. This work was instructed to Mr. Peskett. The latest remark I have from Mr. Platford is as follows:- "O.K. - as far as shown by running on test engines. Range appears O.K. now anxious for complete instruments to use for official records". In the present circumstances, however, I find it is very difficult for Mr. Peskett to be able to give the time and attention necessary to these, owing to pressure of other work. Therefore, I have explained the position to you and ask you if anything can be done with a view to getting these sets made. EFC. | ||
