I am concerned at the noise made by the rev-counter drives on the experimental cars I have recently been driving.

I mentioned the matter to Smith's when I was there the other day, and they said the noise was due to a known trouble and a cure had nowbeen evolved.

I would be glad if you would let me have a report on these drives and an expression of opinion as to whether the cure produced is considered to be permanent.

The noise seems to be aggravated by cold weather and is accompanied by violent fluctuations of the rev-counter or speedometer needle.

If necessary we can, of course, reproduce this trouble in the Cold Chamber.
