Dear Sirs, re 3½ and 4½ LITRE BENTLEY CARS. We beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 3rd instant regarding the use of petrol containing a percentage of alcohol in the above cars. In reply we would say that so far as the reciprocating parts of the engine are concerned, there is no objection to the use of Discol or other alcohol fuels, but we have found that the use of this spirit has a detrimental action on the diaphragms of the petrol pump and continued running on these mixtures will inevitably cause the petrol pump diaphragms to leak. Actually, we recommend the use of a straight-forward first grade petrol such as Ethyl, or if pinking is experienced, National Benzole Mixture. We are, dear Sirs, Yours faithfully, For and on behalf of BENTLEY MOTORS (1931) LTD. E.H. | ||
