Clan Thursday (handwritten) SECRET. To Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}/HH. from Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} c. to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. to Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}/HH/Lovell. Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}11/JH.15.2.40. re Office Organisation at Clan Exptl. Whilst over organisation and systematisation is a clog to output, a reasonable amount of system is essential. Below we give an outline of how we propose the clerical side of the Detail Section should be organised for efficiency. Typing. Miss.Hollingworth will be at your office every other day, and she should do all typing required except in very special cases of urgency. All work should be made to wait for her to do. Although in the past at Derby it has been the custom to make 3 or 4 spare copies of all memos, chiefly because there were several office files, we wish only one file copy to be produced as a general rule. Extra copies should only be made if so instructed by the person writing the letter. Economy in paper is of National importance. Filing. In general the filing of memos. should be done by the typist. We wish you to adapt the following special files. (1) All memos. issuing PL. schemes from Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} to be in a separate file. (2) All memos. from Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} in a second file. (3) All memos. from Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}/HH. issuing work to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} to be in a set of files. It will not be possible at this stage to have a file per section, but 2 or 3 allied section can be joined in one file. (4) All filing normally carried out by Mr.Lovell should be done by the typist. Filing the blue-prints will have to be done by the office staff, by taking a period every so often for such a purpose - say Saturday morning. Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} | ||
