Waller - Head of Chateauroux}1/AH.19.5.38. 7.B.V - BENTLEY III. General notes on testing since Easter. ENGINE. Main oil pipe dented where it passes through hole in triangular front cross member. This may have occurred in erection, but it is a vulnerable point. It appears, however, that in the final scheme the pipe will pass beneath the cross member. On Wraith the hole is larger giving adequate clearance. Inaccessibility of Flywheel marking. No inspection plate was provided in the centre alum. floorboard. This has been arranged for on the next cars and on B.50. On Wraith it is only necessary to remove a wooden board, the centre metal board remaining in position. A suggestion has been put forward to mark the front face of the flywheel rim and have a hole visible under the bonnet on the offside as on Vauxhall. Detonation up to 30 m.p.h. on direct gear with ign. set T.D.C. No improvement with attention to plugs and gaps. A .030" gasket as on Wraith is being fitted as this only gives a small power loss. Modified pistons are to be tried to give higher compression using Wraith head and gasket. Until these are available no alterations will be made to present governor characteristics. | ||
