'F' TYPE ENGINE - M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} S/C. TYPE TEST. X3832 We have had a telephone communication from the Air Ministry in regard to the modified B.T.H. magnetos in which they pointed out that the lighter contact breaker levers are failing and that the thicker magnets cause them to spark at the safety gap. The B.T.H. Co. have apparently made these modifications on their own account and without permission of the Air Ministry, and before these magnetos will be passed by the A.I.D. it will be necessary for these defects to be overcome. The Air Ministry are going further into this matter, but they have requested that we should fit the Watford magnetos on one of the type test engines, therefore will you please arrange for the two Watford magnetos which are in EFC's Dept. to be fitted on engine No.113.
