X5930 To Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} From He/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} He/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}2/AT.6.1.31. X.7930. X.5930. I have been asked to give instructions re the setting of the non squeak brake shoes. The brake shoes should be bedded in without any springs being in position and the front portion of the shoe should be choc-a-bloc. The shoes are then bedded in exactly the same way as the solid shoes. The pilot shoe is then dismantled and the springs fitted. The set screws are screwed up until there is a gap of .020" .025" between the front end of the pilot shoe head and the main shoe. These leave a free movement to compress the pilot shoe .020 .025. It should be locked up in this position. He/G.W.Henenck. | ||
