In answer to your memo. PN.{Mr Northey}4/PH.5.1.31. it is not necessary to take down the engine to remove the gearbox. With the present design incorporating a bracket supporting the rear end of the gearbox, the cross channel tube has been brought too near the gearbox, which makes it necessary to remove this tube to remove the gearbox. It is not intended to bring this scheme into production until modifications have been made to allow the free removal of the gearbox.
