PETO & RADFORD. CONTINUATION 2. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Fowler Clark Esq. 22nd April 1927. and I think you have been very clever in getting it so very correct straight off. I quite agree with you that it is the best form of arrangement to have and that it is greatly superior to the gas indicating device. With regard to the paragraph at the top of your second page, it looks as if this is contradicting the earlier sentence about doing away with the charging switch, but I take it you are in agreement that there must be a charging switch so that you can switch off all charge and still run the car. What does Mr. Royce think of the whole thing, and are all your colleagues equally in favour of it as you are? X3858 - With regard to the tail lamp indicator, I note what you say and that you are giving me the opportunity of saying what you expect I will do about it! I do not quite know what it is you expect me to say, unless it is that the complication is very small and it is of such a nature that it can give no trouble and that its cost is very much less than one fine would be if you were stopped with your tail light out. X2894 - The tungsten points on my car are still going all right but they have not done a big mileage (nothing like 10,000 miles, for example). I thought the other day they were misbehaving but I found they were not and that it was due to the carburettor being upset, so I am continuing their use. I think there is a good deal to be learnt from Joseph Lucas Ltd. re life of points and that they have hit on something pretty good recently. My Lucas magneto continues to operate extremely satisfactorily and I am quite sure it is the best one I have ever had. Yours sincerely, G.R.N Minchin | ||
