N/W Ls/LS from Br copy to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} copy to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Conference file [Initial] 1381 Br1/LS.18.10.37. re Service Complaints Conference Agenda for Meeting on October 26th. With reference to the proposed Agenda for the above meeting, I should be glad if you could add for consideration an item under the heading "Excessive Tyre Wear on Phantom III Cars". We are receiving a great number of complaints that tyres (more especially the rears) are completely losing their tread within 5,000 miles, and I feel this points to the probability that the Phantom III chassis is under-tyred. At any rate I feel that the matter should be discussed fully, as we are daily becoming involved in three-cornered complaints with owners and Dunlop's. One customer who completely wore out his rear tyres in just over 4,000 miles, states that Mr. T.O.M. Sopwith obtained no less than 15,000 miles on a set of Goodyear tyres, in spite of the fact that he invariably indulges in high speed running. Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} [Signature] | ||
