COPY OF LETTER RECEIVED FROM: THE DUNLOP RUBBER CO.LIMITED. FORT DUNLOP, ERDINGTON, BIRMINGHAM. Your Ref: BY/Mtn19/N. Our Ref: FRC/DW.12. July 19th.1934. Messrs.Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby. Dear Sirs, Dome type Jacks for Bentley Chassis. With further reference to your letter of 16.7.34, it is regretted that a component supplied by us should be the cause of a complaint from one of your customers. We are afraid that the suggested spring washer between the pinion handle socket and the jack body would necessarily cause friction and add to the effort required in operating. We think you will agree that it will be better to make the pinion a snug fit in the socket and on the supplies at present coming through the shops at the moment, we are introducing a small machining operation to face the casting where the thrust washer for the pinion abuts on it, thus making the facing operation a selective one so that we can incorporate one or two thrust washers. We are arranging to send you, specially labelled, one of these later type jacks, and shall welcome your opinion on the method adopted to overcome what we hope you will prove to find a more or less isolated complaint. Yours faithfully, FOR DUNLOP RUBBER CO.LIMITED. (Sgd) Frank R.Carr. Sales Manager - Accessories. | ||
