| 224 To HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.17/AP.14.11.36. REDUCED COST OF BENTLEY AND 25/30 FANS. We send you herewith a marked up blue-print SK.5023 shewing our proposals to reduce cost of the above fans. Will you please have the necessary pieces detailed and made so that we can run such a fan on the next 15,000 miles Bentley. The modifications are as follows:- 1. Use 25/30 fan blade assembly on both Bentley and 25/30. cars. 2. Delete Rotherham lubricator and elbow - pack hub with grease. 3. Delete knurled adjusting nut and locknut together with trunnion block (See SK.5023) 4. Delete bracket bushes. 5. Modify distance piece E.52865. (See SK.5023) 6. Modify driving and driven pulley angles -see SK.5023. Sft.{Mr Swift} has just had two sets of 25/30 fan blades built up using spot welding instead of riveting- if these appear successful we should like to use one of them for this fan.
