| 224 To Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.9/AP.18.11.36. TESTS ON BENTLEY FANS. In view of the recent failure in France of a Bentley fan, we wish to run endurance on the test bed on the latest production type of fan. The fan in question should be run for 20 hours at as high a speed as possible - this can either be done on one engine or by changing from engine to engine. We also require figures for fan power loss using:- (1) Standard Bentley fan. (2) Bentley fan fitted with a set of 25/30 HP. blades. (3) Also an endurance run on a Bentley fan fitted with a special set of 25/30 HP. blades which we will hand to you. All endurance runs on Bentley should be done until further notice with a fan fitted. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. | ||
