the above failure mentioned above, i.e. 143-XH, and suggest you reproduce the failure on experimental cars, as I cannot quite understand why the claim that this float XX mechanism should be impervious to a punctured float has not acted in this case.

If it is not practicable to avoid this failure taking place in case of punctured float, it would appear our attention should be centred upon producing a float which is less susceptible to leaks, as we now appear to have done with our float feed mechanism.

I also consider this possible weakness is sufficiently serious for some retrospective action to be taken, or at least some information conveyed to our Depots, which will enable them to inspect and deal with this trouble in case it should arise, as one can conceive this trouble being the cause of all sorts of engine troubles and failures.
