In reply to the letter which I addressed to the Damard Lacquer Co.Ltd., Birmingham, on the 6th inst., said people wrote us on the 7th inst. as follows:- "We would state that we are only agents for Bakelite "raw materials and not for any of the finished articles. "We therefore regret we are unable to obtain you Bakelite "Micarta and we are not sure who are the actual manu- "facturers in the States. "We are, however, supplying several firms here who "are manufacturing a similar article from Formite and we "beg to refer you to The Micanite & Insulators Co.Ltd., "Empire Works, Blackhorse Lane, Walthamstow, London, E.17, "who will no doubt be pleased to send you samples. We "are asking them to get in touch with you on this matter." We are now in receipt of a letter from the Micanite & Insulators Co.Ltd., dated 8th inst. as follows:- "We are in receipt of a letter from The Damard "Lacquer Co. of Birmingham informing us that they have "received from you an enquiry for a material similar to "Bakelite Micarta, and in this connection beg to draw "your attention to our Paxolin as per enclosed sample "and of which you will find full particulars in the "attached Sales Leaflet No.5. "If you will be good enough to let us know for what "purpose the Paxolin is required, we shall be glad to "supply you gratis with the two pieces for test purposes "size 6" x 6" x 1/16" thick, in a suitable grade." I send herewith (to EFC) the leaflet No.5 above referred to, also sample. If EFC. will let me have the information desired by the Micanite & Insulators Co.
