Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC.{R. Childs}3/JH. -2- 2.11.37. After 8.5 hours running a distinct clicking noise was heard coming from the instrument. This varied in intensity, but seemed worst at about 80 m.p.h. In order to ensure that these instruments receive fair treatment and to generally assist us in our investigations, we should like to know whether you consider that this behaviour is normal and satisfactory. Also we should be glad if you would let us have any available information including the calibration value of revs. per mile, which type of car they were intended for whether they are on load or not and the price at which they are supplied? In a similar manner we recently received a number of speedometer drive cables, of a lighter type than our standard, and of different lengths as follows :- 2 cables each 72 inches long. 2 " " 54 " " 4 " " 50 " " Incidentally only the 50 inch cables appear to conform to one of our standard lengths. As with the speedometers, we should be pleased to receive any information concerning their purpose, conditions under which they were sent, price etc. We are responsible for the complete investigation, and recommendation or otherwise of these parts, and it would greatly assist us to have this information. Any reply should be addressed for the attention of the undersigned, Chassis Electrical Laboratory. Thanking you in anticipation. Yours faithfully, | ||
