-2- Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd. 27/11/35. We trust that this information is what you desire, and if there is any further information necessary, we shall be only too pleased to pass it on to you. During the course of my visit I had a conversation with Mr. Leslie, who again suggested that it might be possible to lighten the Propeller Shaft still more than we have already done. This, I pointed out to him, was impossible with the Shaft in its present state, but suggested to Mr. Leslie that a further saving in weight could be effected by the use of our standard flange yoke instead of the special flange yoke supplied with the sample Shaft, and Mr. Leslie agreed that if matters come to a production basis it would perhaps be possible for you to consider our standard flange yoke, the use of which we estimate will save you between 2¼ to 2¾ lbs in weight per Shaft. With this aim in view, we have pleasure in enclosing herewith a revised quotation showing a similar Shaft to that quoted for previously, but with thestandard flange yoke. You will note that this means a considerable saving in price, and also that there is no tool charge to be considered. I also enclose a separate drawing of our standard flange yoke, which I shall be pleased if you will be good enough to pass on to Mr. Leslie. Yours faithfully, [Handwritten note in left margin]: Prices? [Handwritten note in left margin]: Drawing? | ||
