Messrs.Park Ward & Co.Ltd., 473, High Road, Willesden, London N.W.10. Dear Sirs, Re: Bentley V.{VIENNA} Saloon 11.B.5. We wish to confirm that we left with you a design of a Saloon body for chassis 11.B.5. and that we wish you to build this coachwork in wood and aluminium, using a structure no more robust than that which you used on the original wood and aluminium Bentley 11 bodies. We feel that we are justified in going back to this very light structure, even though it gave trouble on B.11 chassis, because of the enormous rigidity of the B.V. frame, and the use of flexible rubber body mounting. We have moved the radiator forward some inches for a specific reason, and confirm that we left you a print of PD.276 shewing the base of this radiator, and its position relative to the front wheels. We shall send you in the course of a few days the design of the special bonnet for this car, and a complete specification, in the meantime we would be glad if you could go ahead with the full size drawing. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. CHIEF ENGINEER - CHASSIS. | ||
