In reply to your memo. BY/C6/H291024.,
please note Mr. Royce is agreeable to putting a little
more set, namely, .250 in the cross steering tube to in-
crease the clearance at the point where the engine under-
shield passes between the tube and the wheelcase. At
the same time he would like Mr. Hives to make bump tests
to compare the value of the bent cross steering tube
with a straight one. With regard to clearing the
curved up portion of the tube we should like you to alter
the shape of the apron of the undershield at the sides
somewhat as shewn in the sketch below. The slot shield
through which the brake rope passes will require corres-
ponding modification.
