TO BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} SECRET. EL/M3.11.24. Copy to - CS. Copy to - HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Copy to - DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} A.{Mr Adams} C. 11. ENGINE UNDERSHIELD. 78290 In reply to your memo. BY/C6/H291024., please note Mr. Royce is agreeable to putting a little more set, namely, .250 in the cross steering tube to in- crease the clearance at the point where the engine under- shield passes between the tube and the wheelcase. At the same time he would like Mr. Hives to make bump tests to compare the value of the bent cross steering tube with a straight one. With regard to clearing the curved up portion of the tube we should like you to alter the shape of the apron of the undershield at the sides somewhat as shewn in the sketch below. The slot shield through which the brake rope passes will require corres- ponding modification. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} [STAMP: RECEIVED] | ||
