NEWCASTLE-ON-TYNE 21, ELDON PLACE, BARRAS BRIDGE. 22nd April, 1939 YOUR REF. OUR REF. WES/PW. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby. For the attention of Mr. Dixon. Dear Sirs, Referring again to your letter of the 29th March, we have tried several expedients in an attempt to eliminate the assumed self-servoing action but so far with little success. We are now trying the rig with a ball bearing between the spindle and armature shaft but cannot yet say if this will effect any improvement. We would also refer to the experiments which you are carrying out with respect to spring interleaving, and we wonder if you have any road test reports available on the behaviour of the interleaving and the springs to which it is fitted. The position with regard to this item and its further development in other directions by Mr. Woodhead depends to some extent on your experiences with this material, and if a report from you is possible at this stage we might again raise the subject with Mr. Woodhead. Yours faithfully, FERODO LIMITED. W.E. Shilton Manager, Technical Department. | ||
