To Mr. √5840 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}6/WW.16.6.34. 21-G-IV. We should like your opinion on the pick-up rattle on this engine from 10 to 30 m.p.h. on top gear; we have a new type of piston in this engine which I personally think is causing the trouble. You will also notice a certain amount of tinniness in the exhaust on the pick-up. Do you consider that this is worse than standard ? Do not criticise the brakes, we know that they are all wrong. We have a new type of clutch fitted to the car on which we should like your opinion. At the moment we are not very proud of it. [Signature] [Stamp: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}] Handwritten notes: ① Rattle is from combustion gears! & not apparent when indirect gears are used. ② Consider exhaust noise is not more noticeable than Standard ③ Clutch seemed to be OK & did all I wanted. would not have known it was different from Standard RF | ||
