X235 TESTS ON F.{Mr Friese} BLACKMORES SHOCK ABSORBERS. X4118 (A). (1) Ascertain that the balls in the ball valves of the present owners shock absorbers are free and if necessary counter-sink their seats slightly to obviate the trouble. Having done this, test for improvement. Check damper in each case by hand to see if there is any lost movement. (2) If no cure, try drilled high pressure valves. (3) Then try slotted high pressure valves. (B). Remove original dampers and fix experimental dampers with restrictions (marked). (1) Try as supplied. (2) Try with drilled valve. (3) Try with slotted valve. Remove experimental dampers. (C). Fit new production dampers. If these are O.K. leave them. If not, try : (1) Drilled valve. (2) Slotted valve in these shock absorbers. Summarising therefore : If the owners shock absorbers can be made O.K. by attention to the ball valves, re-fit them after tests A.{Mr Adams} B. and C. and leave them on the car. If not, fit either them or the new production dampers whichever gives the best results, with the slotted or drilled valve again whichever gives the best results and leave them on the car. contd :- | ||
