Phantom 3 Gearbox.
Synchromesh Pieces.
We send herewith N.Sch.4661 which shows top and 3rd speed S.M. cones with an angle of 9° instead of the present 10°. The surfaces are to have the fine screw thread shown to accelerate the bedding in process.
This drawing also shows torsional central plungers as used on the Bentley and 20/25 to prevent rattles.
With the deletion of the bolts which originally secured the top gear cone to the 1st motion shaft we can simplify the cone pieces as we show above the centre line, but if it is preferred to retain existing pieces they will be as shown below the centre line.
The 2nd speed cones should be given the screw thread but their angle should not be altered from the present 10°.
