Referring to HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/LK.{L. King}1/VS.{J. Vickers}15.10.38. the thin adjusting washers were proposed because it was thought they would assist in assembling. As this has turned out not to be so, we have no objection to the solid packing of varying thickness and suggest that the detail should be altered.
