(wanted 20' apron)
You will have seen our separate letter re the front wings.
The Derby mechanic had the misfortune to damage one of the top pull-off springs to the front brakes, and we wired you for a replacement.
We understand that EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} is sending us the carburetter parts to unable us to do a short test on the road to ascertain that the cycle type wings are satisfactory.
We have received the dumb-iron covers and are building up the shields over the front dampers. We note that you have not sent to us the actual apron because we have not got the correct radiator. We still think we should have this apron so that it can be filled and painted. We wish to avoid Messrs. Park Ward & Co. doing much of this work at W. where it is very costly to us.
Since this car is to be eventually the "Shop Window Car" we do not think it is wise that it should be painted all black. Such a colour scheme would not be popular amongst such people who are interested in this class of car.
We are proposing to finish the car in aluminium, like the Trials Saloon Bentley, but faintly tinted blue like 26-EX. The moulding will be blue and also the interior leather.
With such a finish we believe the car will be very attractive.
It is because of this special treatment we want to complete the painting here, as far as possible.
Will you please let us have a complete set of tools for this car so that we can accommodate them. The correct mallet will be required. We are making this car the sample car which E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} has asked us to produce showing how the road tools can be stored under the bonnet, so that W. can design clips and fastenings with a view to supplying the road tools so housed on the chassis as a standard equipment.
